Peculiarities
Multiple choice ensemble, from string duo to ensemble with piano
Italian repertoire always juxtaposed with foreign authors
Premieres by living Italian authors
The Medhelan Eclectic Ensemble has its core in the duo made by Doriano Di Domenico, violinist & violist and Francesco Facchini, violinist.
This duo is born in september 2025 giving a concert in Cantello for Armonie dal Mondo musical season. The program was celebrating two iportant anniversaries for Italian music history: 500 years from the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and 100 years from the birth of Luciano Berio. Between these two authors, they proposed a journey through the most important authots of classical music.
This is the concept of the Medhelan Eclectic Ensemble: to celebrate the most important Italian authors by highlighting their connections with the other most important non - Italian composers of all time.
We said that this duo is the core, because the aim of the Medhelan Eclectic Ensemble is to assume different shapes for different repertoires. The idea is to be able to enlarge the ensemble if a trio, a quartet etc. is needed to promote Italian Music.
Actually, on December 1st 2025 they gave, together with cellist Carlo Maria Paulesu, a trio concert at Swiss Consolate in Milan, creating a program that showed the bonds beetween Italian and Swiss Culture. They proposed in fact pieces by Palestrina, Cherriere, Dalcroze, Berio, and they also premiered "Paolino" Op. 8, a piece by Doriano (himself Italian-Swiss!).
